Computer maintenance is extremely important for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the dust buildup inside of your machine can cause many problems down the road, which is why there should always be regular cleanings performed once every few months. This will prolong the life of your system, keeping you from having to go out and buy a new system before you really need to. Dust buildup is at its worst in your computer’s ventilation system and depending on whether you own a laptop or a desktop, the process will be a little different.

For those of you who own a laptop, it can be a little tougher to clean out your ventilation system. It’s probably also not required as much as it is with a desktop PC. In the event that it is needed, simply take a bottle of electronics duster and use it to lightly blow out the area in need of cleaning. For desktops, it will be necessary to take the side panel off. This is easy and is performed by removing a few screws. Upon getting the panel off, simply use your bottle of electronics duster and lightly blow the dust off of all of the components, including the fan. Just remember that you will probably want to have your computer outside for this to keep dust from scattering around your house.
